Serena La Petite

“Serenus” in Latin means clear sky, cloudless. Not happy, clear. Lucius Annaeus Seneca wrote a treatise dedicated to his friend Serenus, “De tranquillitate animi”, because Serenus was asking for help: he felt in balance, then nothing would happen and everything would shake. He couldn’t understand how to hold on to that stillness. Seneca replied that serenity is not the absence of disturbance. It is a way of standing inside disturbance without being swept away by it. The result of patient work that never quite finishes. You know when it is there: everything seems in its place, you can see how to fix what is not, your breathing is steady, it goes all the way down, to the belly, it doesn’t stop in the chest. Something you don’t find by chance, it doesn’t exhaust itself in the moment, but when it arrives it is destined to stay. Being serene, after all, is a virtue.

How to Wear

Day and evening bag to carry by hand or crossbody. The Saturday without a diary. The dinner where you don’t want to carry too much. The strap frees the hands, the handle keeps her close to the body. The organiser pocket keeps everything in order on its own. The wallet, the airpods, the mirror, the keys. The necessary for a day that is already enough as it is.

TO DO

The next time melancholy arrives without reason, don’t look for a reason. Sit down. Let it pass. See how long it takes.
